Ponot Asahan Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Indonesia. Located southeast of Parapat City with a distance of approximately 69 km.

Ponot Waterfall is located on the Ponot River which is a tributary of the Asahan River. It is located at an altitude of approximately 500 meters above sea level. The typical view of this location is a waterfall that is surrounded by green trees.
Not far from Ponot Waterfall, there are a number of small waterfalls that can also be viewed. The flow of Ponot Waterfall is not a vertical type that falls directly, but there are two to three levels that beautify the water droplets.
Access to the waterfall can be passed by two-wheeled or four-wheeled motor vehicles, but visitors need to be careful because on some roads there are potholes and pass through oil palm plantations. Upon arrival at the Ponot Waterfall tourist area, visitors will be greeted by a large gate. Visitors still have to walk about 500 meters to get to the edge of the waterfall.
