Dodola Island is in Morotai Island Regency, North
Maluku Province. This destination is often referred to as a tourist paradise in
Eastern Indonesia because of its enchanting beauty and is famous for having
charming marine nature. Dodola Island is one of 33 small islands that surround
Morotai Island. The exact position is west of Morotai Island and east of
Halmahera Island.
Dodola Island consists of two parts, Dodola Besar Island and Dodola Kecil Island. These two islands will be connected when the sea water is low and form a unique sand road. This sand road is the main destination for tourists who come to enjoy the sensation of walking in the middle of a parting sea.
If the sea water recedes, visitors will see rising sand that forms a road from Dodola Besar Island and Dodola Kecil Island, a distance of about 500 meters. Visitors can walk through the white sand and enjoy the beautiful panorama that seems to divide the ocean. Here visitors can do activities ranging from swimming, sunbathing to snorkeling. Not to mention that the island itself is equipped with various accommodation facilities and also marine activities such as canoeing. Snorkeling and diving lovers will certainly find
their own paradise, because here there are 13 dive points where in the sea there
are several sunken planes and ships left over from the Second World War.
Because the Morotai and Dodola areas were once places of war between Japan and
the Allies. Dodola Island is one of the favorite islands where General Douglas
Mc Arthur rested during World War 2, Allied troops made Morotai Island a
military island and Dodola Island as a resting place.
For visitors who travel to Dodola Island, there is no entrance fee. Most visitors who come to this island choose to spend the night in tents that they bring themselves because the Dodola Island management does not yet provide tent rental services. For visitors who do not stay in tents, the local government has prepared cottages with affordable accommodation costs. Food in Morotai is dominated by seafood dishes. Therefore, for seafood lovers, this place is heaven.
