The stunning Silokek Geopark

 
Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek is located in Jorong Tanjung Medan, Nagari Silokek, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra Province. This geopark area is quite broad, because it covers more than 1,300 km² and is located in 2 sub-districts, namely Sijunjung and Sumpur Kudus districts. Inaugurated as a Geopark on February 8, 2018 and officially holds the status as a National Geopark (earth park area), starting on Friday (30/11/2018). until now it is still being addressed.Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek has geological advantages, has a traditional village, has a Rajo Ibadat museum and library, there is another Biology Center located in the Paru area.  It's not difficult to get to that natural tourist attraction. It only takes about 15 minutes from the center of the capital city of Sijunjung (Muaro Sijunjung) with a distance of about 16 km. During the trip, visitors are also presented with a winding road. However, vehicle access is quite good with smooth asphalt.Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek has a very exotic natural beauty and is able to attract the attention of local and foreign tourists, such as Ngalau Cigak Nature Tourism. Here, visitors can enjoy the underground river flow and the beauty of the stalactites, around Ngalau will be greeted by a herd of tame monkeys, usually this herd of monkeys will sit in rows to wait for the food provided by the visitors.
In this area there are three waterfall locations, namely, Palukahan waterfall, Palange waterfall, and Taye waterfall, which can also be used as bathing places, usually before entering the fasting month, the location of this waterfall is widely visited.White Sand tourist attraction, on the edge of the river you will see a beach that has sand that we usually find on the beach in the sea or on an island, but in Silokek we also find white sand on the edge of Batang Kuantan which is beautiful and beautiful, like the existing beach. in Island.
For visitors who like rafting and rock climbing, the swift flow of the Batang Kuantan that flows along the Silokek village and the steep rocks of the hills, visitors can test their adrenaline here, because the river that flows along 38 km is included in the level III difficulty category.
Geologically, the rocks in the Minang Silokek Geopark area are approximately 359 million years old. The presence of the Minang Silokek Geopark complements the two other Geoparks that previously existed in West Sumatra, namely the Sianok Gorge Geopark in Agam Regency and the Sawahlunto Geopark in Sawahlunto City.
The facilities provided are quite supportive, with places for selfies, prayer rooms and toilets provided. There is also a separate parking area before entering the Silokek area deeper. Several gazebos for shelter when taking a walk. Open Monday - Sunday, open from 07.00 - 18.00. This tourist area is still under development so that until March 2020 there is no stipulation of the entrance ticket price.
