Blawan Waterfall, a Waterfall with Hot Sulfur Water
Blawan Waterfall is
located in Regaherjo Hamlet, Kalianyar Village, Sempol District, Bondowoso
Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. The distance from the city center to tourist
locations is around 57 kilometers.
Blawan Waterfall is a hot
waterfall as a result of seepage from a phenomenal mountain crater, namely the
Ijen Crater. The Blawan Bondowoso waterfall contains sulfur and is surrounded
by macadamia plants. Well, the main attraction of the Bondowoso waterfall is
thanks to its amazing view, which is the reason why it is so popular with
visitors now.
This waterfall is flanked by two
high cliffs covered with moss and other green plants. Apart from that, this
30-high waterfall is very fast. In fact, it was still the dry season. The color
of the water is yellowish because it contains sulfur. Visitors cannot descend
to the base of the waterfall because, apart from the water containing sulfur,
the valley is also feared to be prone to landslides.
In this area there is also a park
managed by the Blawan coffee processing factory. This park also has a waterfall
that is no less beautiful than Blawan Waterfall. The nickname of the waterfall
in this park is Mini Niagara. There is also a hot water pool for visitors who
want to soak, namely the Damar Wulan baths, which were originally a petilasan
area, where there was a dam which used to be the Damar Wulan bathing area.
Visitors who come usually wash their faces there, because the water flow is
still fresh and clean, it is said that it is believed to make you stay young
From the entrance counter to the
Blawan tourist area, visitors must continue the journey on foot. The road taken
is quite extreme because the route goes up and down between two cliffs. To make
it easier, this waterfall has been marked on Google Maps
