Lake Sentani stretches between Jayapura City and Jayapura
Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia. Its position is under the slopes of the
Cyclops Nature Reserve Mountains with an area of around 9,360 hectares and at
an altitude of 75 meters above sea level (masl).
Lake Sentani has very rich natural resources. There are
various species of freshwater fish that live in this lake. Some of them are
endemic species to Sentani. Apart from offering natural diversity, this lake in
the Jayapura area also has a beautiful hill called Teletubbies Hill. Visitors
to this place will not miss the beauty of the sunset, a moment that many
visitors have been waiting for.
Visitors to this lake can enjoy the beauty of the hill by
climbing the MacArthur Monument and seeing the panorama of green trees from the
top of the hill. America's famous World War legend, General MacArthur, is said
to have lived at Lake Sentani.
The beauty of Lake Sentani is also flanked by 22 islands
scattered around the lake. Visitors can circle the lake using rented tourist
boats to enjoy the exotic panorama of Lake Sentani. Visitors can also swim,
fish, dive, water ski and culinary tours in the lake area. Of the 22 islands,
Asei Island is one of the most famous.
Reaching this lake is not difficult because it is close to
Jayapura City. The road to the airport in Jayapura runs along this lake, so the
name of the airport is Sentani
